The denominator is every open role this feed reads on a hiring system whose API can carry a pay range. 53,032 roles across 924 companies this edition. Nothing is estimated and nothing is modelled: a role counts as publishing when its own board returned a range we could parse.

Method / what this does not claim

Eligibility is a property of the software. A hiring system is in this count when its API can return a compensation field at all. SmartRecruiters cannot, so a role posted there is unmeasured, not silent, and it is left out of the denominator rather than counted as a company staying quiet.
One company, one vote. Company breadth is counted per company. A company with two thousand open roles moves that figure exactly as far as a company with five.
The file floor is 5 open roles. A company needs 5 open roles before its own row is publishable, because below that the share is measuring one posting rather than a policy. Companies under the floor are still counted in every total on this page.
Medians exclude hourly roles. The median is the midpoint of ranges published in dollars per year. Hourly roles are counted and shown separately, never folded in, and no median is drawn below 5 roles.
Counted daily, dated. The fold runs once a day and writes one dated edition. This page reads that edition's rows and nothing else, so the numbers on it were all counted in the same pass, in the same instant.
Not the whole market. Every figure is scoped to the companies whose own boards this feed reads. It is not a survey, not a sample of employers at large, and it says nothing about what any role pays.
Company rows are withheld. Per-company rows are folded every day and are not published in this edition. Naming an employer's disclosure rate is a claim about that employer drawn from our reading of their board, and that is a decision the owner has not made.
