The posting, in Airwallex's own words
archived Nov 2, 2026About Airwallex
Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own. We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. How you'll make impact
You’ll own Airwallex’s consolidated management P&L view and financial outlook, helping senior leaders understand performance, assess trade-offs and allocate resources. You’ll also be the lead finance partner to our corporate functions, including Operations, Finance, Regulatory & Compliance, Legal, People & Talent, and Communications & Government Affairs. This is a hands-on role that combines rigorous financial planning and analysis with business partnership. You’ll work through the details, connect the implications across the business, and help leaders make informed decisions about investment, capacity and efficiency. Lead consolidated planning and forecasting. Own the annual budget and quarterly forecast process, bringing together inputs across revenue, gross profit and operating expenditure. Challenge assumptions, resolve inconsistencies across plans, and ensure alignment with Airwallex’s strategic priorities, long-range plan and EBITDA targets. Translate company-wide performance into decisions. Lead monthly management reporting and performance reviews, explaining the drivers of results and their implications for the outlook. Identify material risks and opportunities, build scenarios to assess trade-offs, and recommend actions to senior management. Partner with corporate leaders on resource allocation. Translate business priorities into headcount and spending plans, evaluate investment requests and vendor commitments, and challenge assumptions. Help leaders prioritise resources while balancing financial discipline with capacity, service quality and control requirements. Partner with People & Talent on workforce planning. Build and maintain the consolidated headcount and employee cost forecast with finance and business owners. Assess the implications of hiring pace, workforce mix and organisational changes, and keep hiring plans, budgets and forecasts aligned. Drive operating leverage across corporate functions. Develop cost, capacity and productivity measures suited to each function. Evaluate opportunities through automation, process improvements and vendor arrangements, and track whether investments deliver the expected outcomes. Strengthen FP&A tools, data and processes. Stay hands-on with financial models and analysis, partnering with Accounting, Data and Finance Architecture to improve reporting accuracy and planning consistency. Use AI and automation to simplify recurring work, improve forecasting and enable faster investigation of business questions. You'll work from our London office three days a week.

Essentials
A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, a quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of progressive FP&A or related finance experience, with clear ownership of consolidated budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting in high-growth businesses. Strong understanding of the full P&L and underlying accounting, with the ability to connect operational drivers, accruals, expense timing and one-off items to financial performance and forecast assumptions. Experience partnering with corporate functions on headcount, employee costs, operating expenditure and investment decisions, including constructively challenging resource requests and assessing business cases. Advanced financial modelling skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including driver-based forecasting and scenario analysis using large datasets. A track record of translating complex financial analysis into clear recommendations for senior, non-finance stakeholders, with the judgement and confidence to influence decisions. A hands-on approach and strong execution discipline: comfortable investigating data, resolving discrepancies and coordinating planning cycles across teams, with experience building or improving FP&A processes in a changing environment.
Preferred
FP&A experience in a fast-growing technology or fintech company, ideally with global exposure to SaaS, payments or multi-region business models. Early-career training in Big 4 audit, deals or transaction services, investment banking, private equity or consulting, followed by in-house corporate finance experience. Hands-on experience with modern FP&A or BI tools such as Pigment, Anaplan, Databricks, Tableau or Looker, and experience extracting data with SQL. Practical experience applying AI or automation to financial analysis, planning or reporting workflows.
You'll thrive here if
You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and moving quickly anyway. You're comfortable operating across time zones with a globally distributed team, including colleagues based in APAC and EMEA. You own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken. You connect dots across functions and hold the big picture without losing grip on the details. You simplify complexity rather than hiding behind it.
