The posting, in Amboss's own words
archived Sep 11, 2026Hi! We are AMBOSS and we are looking for a Financial Systems Architect to join our team, and shape the future of medical education with us! About AMBOSS AMBOSS is a dynamic learning and clinical decision support tool committed to empowering medical professionals globally to deliver optimal care. Since our inception in 2012, we've harnessed cutting-edge technology to transform the way physicians acquire and apply scientific knowledge. Each AMBOSSian is passionate about being the champion of clinicians today - this motivates and unites us each day towards success. And what does success look like? When a clinician or med student tells us, “AMBOSS makes practicing medicine easier and enjoyable. I love what I do, and a big part is because of AMBOSS.” Want to learn more about our culture? Watch our video to explore what makes us unique. Why Systems at AMBOSS? AMBOSS runs on a growing landscape of business systems: Workday as the ERP at the center, connected to Stripe, HubSpot, Pleo, Avalara, our banks, payroll and archiving. The Systems team, part of Data & Systems, makes this landscape develop as a whole: every problem solved in the system where it belongs, and processes that run smoothly from order to cash and from purchase to payment. Our expertise is platform-independent: accounting logic, process design, integration patterns and systems thinking. Working side by side with Finance, Accounting, Commercial, Data and IT, we support AMBOSS in pursuing its mission: empowering medical professionals worldwide to provide the best possible care.
Why can this position be exciting for you?
You are the technical owner of Workday Financials at AMBOSS: you take the tenant over from our implementation partner and run it. Some days that means a configuration fix before the close, other days the design of a new integration or the assessment of a new module. You are the expert and advisor for everything Workday. Our Business Systems Manager owns the roadmap, stakeholder coordination and partner management and works with you day to day. This is a senior individual contributor role: you build and own Workday the way a senior engineer owns a production system. It is not an administrator role with a ticket queue.

Where we are
Workday Financials goes live in November 2026 as our ERP for three entities in Germany, the US and Italy. Around twelve integrations connect it to the rest of the landscape, and they are the most demanding part of it. You join during hypercare and the first closes in Workday, with the first year-end close and statutory audit ahead.
You will:
Own the tenant technically. Configuration and business processes across record-to-report (General Ledger), procure-to-pay (Accounts Payable), order-to-cash (Accounts Receivable) and bank connectivity (Banking & Settlement), the security model and the financial data model. Take over from the implementation partner. Review, document and harden what was delivered, close the gaps and bring run responsibility in-house as early as possible after go-live. Where we still use consultants, you set the technical standard and review their work. Own the Workday side of every integration. Design and build the EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio integrations, web services and RaaS reports behind each interface and agree the interface contracts with our Data Platform engineers, who build and run the pipelines around the tenant. Advise Accounting and Finance. Translate requirements into system design, say clearly what Workday can and cannot do and advise where in the landscape a problem is best solved. Run it like a production system. Tier 2/3 support with root-cause fixes, testing discipline (unit, regression, UAT), the two Workday releases a year and a change log with configuration documentation. You enable the accounting stream leads who handle first-line questions. Build the reports, dashboards and calculated fields that Finance and leadership rely on, and make them self-serve where possible. Be the technical expert on expansions. HCM, treasury, automated VAT reporting and global payroll off DATEV: assess feasibility, design the solution and configure it.
You bring:
Workday Financials depth. 5+ years hands-on, including at least one full implementation and the post-go-live ownership of a tenant (hypercare, first closes, releases). Configuration expertise. Core modules (GL, AP, AR, Banking & Settlement), the business process framework, configurable security and the financial data model (FDM, worktags). Reporting. Custom and matrix reports, calculated fields and BIRT. Systems thinking. Experience connecting SaaS business systems (APIs, integration patterns) and the habit of thinking in end-to-end processes across tools. Accounting understanding. Chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations and audit requirements. Engineering mindset. Structured troubleshooting to the root cause, disciplined testing and documentation that others can use. Communication. Excellent English: precise with engineers, plain with finance colleagues.
