Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Validation Engineer to join our Systems Test organization onsite at Form Factory 1 (FF1) in Weirton, West Virginia. In this role, you will serve as the primary site lead and hands-on technical owner for major multi-pack integrated test assets. You will bring a strong, boots-on-the-ground leadership style to oversee asset commissioning, site readiness, and the execution of high-level test campaigns evaluating the top-tier functionality of our energy storage products against Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and validation plans (VALs). You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Project Engineering, Commissioning, Controls, Software, and Operations teams to lead system-level verification and validation at the integrated system level. You will be directly accountable for transforming PRDs and system-level ConOps into rigorous validation plans, executing full-system charge/discharge and operational campaigns, triaging multi-physics anomalies, and driving key release gates. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
Serve as the boots-on-the-ground site lead and operational owner for multi-pack integrated test assets at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. Partner directly with Project Engineering and Commissioning leads to drive cold/hot commissioning, operational acceptance testing (OATs), and initial asset energization. Lead the translation of high-level Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and ConOps into comprehensive system-level validation plans (VALs/VERTs) following the Test @ Form process. Direct and execute complex test campaigns targeting the highest-level functionality of our battery systems—including multi-pack power flow, full charge/discharge cycling, controls state machines, auxiliary system responses, and safety interlocks. Act as the primary technical point of contact on-site, coordinating daily testing priorities between Systems Test, Project Engineering, Controls, Firmware, and Tech Operations. Lead troubleshooting efforts when system-level anomalies occur across electrical, mechanical, fluidic, controls, or software boundaries to unblock validation progress. Review raw multi-pack telemetry, analyze system performance trends, and publish executive-level validation reports confirming PRD compliance and gating milestones. Drive high standards for Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), high-voltage DC safety, chemical/electrolyte handling, hazard barriers, and 5S laboratory practices.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of hands-on experience in system-level integration, hardware validation, commissioning, or physical laboratory testing of complex multi-physics assets (energy storage systems, electric vehicles, grid-scale power systems, aerospace, or heavy industrial automation). Demonstrated experience taking multi-subsystem hardware through commissioning and executing system-level PRD validation campaigns. Strong technical leadership with a track record of direct asset ownership and hands-on troubleshooting in high-power or heavy industrial test labs. Deep familiarity with system-level architectures spanning power electronics, industrial networks (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet), fluid loops (electrolyte, nitrogen purge, cooling), and BMS controls. Practical familiarity with safety management systems, LOTO protocols, EHS hazard reviews (HazID), and high-energy test procedures. Proven capability to partner effectively with Project Engineering, Commissioning, and Manufacturing teams to manage risk and schedule timelines. Experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) and requirements/test management platforms (e.g., Jama).
