About the Role
We're building a regional finance and operations hub in Buenos Aires, and this role owns the finance engine for Argentina and Uruguay. Reporting to the Director Finance & Operations, South America, you'll be accountable for the close, tax, statutory compliance and controls across both entities, and you'll lead a Financial Accountant and a Billing Admin from day one. This is a build role in the literal sense. Some processes exist when you arrive; most don't. You'll design them, run them, and make them hold as volume grows fast. You'll work closely with the Director on planning and strategy, and with Halter's global finance team in New Zealand on consolidation, reporting and group requirements. If you want to be the person who knows exactly why every number in two countries is right, and who built the process that makes it so, this is it.

What you'll own
The monthly close for Argentina and Uruguay: accurate, on time, and reconciled to group reporting. Tax compliance across both countries (ARCA, formerly AFIP, and provincial Ingresos Brutos in Argentina; DGI and BPS in Uruguay), with advisors managed rather than relied on. Statutory reporting and audits, including inflation-adjusted local reporting and the bridge to group IFRS. Controls and source-of-truth discipline: coding, approvals, documentation and audit-readiness across both entities. Treasury operations: cash positions, FX execution within the policy the Director sets, and import and supplier payment compliance. Leading and developing the Financial Accountant and Billing Admin, and deciding what gets automated rather than resourced.
What you'll bring
Must-haves 6 to 10 years in accounting, controllership or audit, with hands-on Argentine tax and statutory experience. You've owned a close end-to-end, not just contributed to one. Working knowledge of inflation-adjusted reporting and IFRS, and the ability to reconcile the two. Fluency in Spanish and English. You'll work daily with the team in New Zealand. Experience managing or mentoring others. Accuracy and a builder's instinct. You're comfortable creating process where none exists. Nice-to-haves Uruguayan tax and compliance exposure. Big 4 background, or experience in a multinational subsidiary reporting to an offshore parent. Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP. A track record of automating finance processes or using AI to create leverage.
How we'll know you're winning
Close runs on time every month and reconciles to group without back-and-forth. Tax filings and statutory audits in both countries are clean and on time, with no surprises. The Director spends their time on strategy, partnering and operations, not reviewing your work. Your team is growing and taking on more each quarter.
Culture line
This role is Absolute Ownership of the numbers across two countries: if it's wrong, it's yours to find and fix. It rewards someone who works From First Principles to build processes that scale rather than copying familiar ones, and who brings the discipline of Here to Win to a close that doesn't slip.
