About the role
Hex is looking for a Brand Designer with exceptional visual instincts, strong opinions, and a particular love of illustration, image-making, expressive graphic design. We’re a group of makers and conceptual thinkers. We like people who draw, build, collage, photograph, animate, prototype, collect strange references, obsess over type, or find some other way to make an idea tangible. We’re less interested in staying neatly inside the lines of “brand design” than in finding people with real visual curiosity and a point of view. Weirdos encouraged. You’ll help us build the next chapter of the Hex brand: taking a precise visual system and finding all the surprising, human and memorable things we can make within it. You’ll work across campaigns, launches, events, editorial, social, web and whatever strange new thing we decide to make next. This is a generalist brand design role, but we’re especially excited by people who create rather than simply arrange. Someone comfortable making an illustration, inventing a visual metaphor, developing a concept, building a campaign world, experimenting with a new medium, or pushing a graphic system somewhere we didn’t expect it to go. You should also be excited by the challenge of making a complex product feel simple, compelling and a little magical. That might mean abstracting a technical capability into one sharp visual idea, developing a new graphic language for a product story, or finding a way to communicate what Hex does thoughtfully. Mostly, we’re looking for someone who likes making things, likes thinking in ideas, and wants to help build a brand with enough structure to hold together and enough room to get weird.
