About the role:
We’re looking for a talent leader to build a repeatable, data driven recruiting engine that translates Hex’s culture in a real and tangible way. You’ll start by making our bar something we can actually teach, so every interviewer is holding the same line instead of their own. From there you’ll shape the rest of it: how we find people, what candidates feel going through our process, and the systems and data underneath all of it. In everything you do, you’ll obsess over whether we’re hiring the people who change the trajectory of this company. Hex is full of people who are smart, a little weird, and impossible to replace with a model. We hire for the out-of-distribution: the people who turn things on their head, who have the idea that sounds implausible right up until it feels inevitable. As a data company, our hiring process should be an advertisement for that, and you’ll have the benefit of using Hex to make it one. This role reports to our Head of People and is based in San Francisco or New York. We’re in the office at least three days a week, and most of us are there more than that, because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s genuinely excited to be there alongside the team.

What you will do
Lead a team of exceptional recruiters. Grow them, hire the folks we’re still missing, and figure out what this team should look like as we get bigger. Make our stunning bar something we can teach. Turn it into something structured and consistent: what we ask candidates to show us, rubrics that mean something, interviewer training, and calibration with our leads. The bar should hold the same in every room, not just the ones you’re in. Build a data-driven recruiting engine. You’ll own the stack and the call on what we stop doing by hand. You’ll also get to build our recruiting analysis in Hex itself, which is a pretty great perk of this particular job. Partner with our leads. Help them shape a role before it opens. Bring a point of view on how a team should be built, not just who goes in the seat. And tell them when the profile they asked for isn’t the one they need. Get excited about hiring weirdos. We mean that literally. Weirdos wanted is one of our favorite things we’ve published and it’s the bar you’d be holding. The job is finding the folks who live out of distribution, and building a process that can actually spot them.
