In the face of rising threats, increasing pressure on affordability, and unprecedented demand for power, Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize their field work to meet the growth and challenges ahead. We build physical AI for the field worker: whether on foot or in a vehicle, our technology is an ironman suit for engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews: same worker, same boots on the ground, now operating at 10x productivity. Our platform is powered by cutting edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc…), AI and software designed to revolutionize work in the toughest environments. Our technology has enabled our customers to reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risk from vegetation, avoid delays and cost overruns in new construction, and accelerate recovery from severe storms. To tackle this challenge, we are bringing together a team of mission-driven experts with deep industry experience in robotics (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and enterprise software development (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). We have raised funding from leading investors including Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital. We are headquartered in midtown Manhattan, with additional offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia. Our growth is only accelerating. We’re looking for deeply curious and highly ambitious people who want to have a real world impact. Come build the future of (field) work with us.
About the role
As a senior engineer on our embedded team you will drive development of our robot software. In this role you will contribute to a wide range of outcomes including: Increasing on-device or near real-time capabilities that deliver an improved operator experience and enable fast turn-around for certain use cases like storm response. Features to support robot reliability at scale such as development of additional logs and diagnostic capabilities Optimization of our field to cloud data pipeline to support large base of end-users and faster turn-around times Core robot software development experience including upgrades to our operating system and deployment of upgrades to the fleet Support hardware evolutions and changes, such as integration of new sensors Serving as an escalation point for embedded issues raised by our field and technical staff, helping resolve customer-facing problems quickly This role will be hybrid, with 2-3 days in office, based out of our New York or Philadelphia offices. Experience / Skills 5+ years of experience writing software for Linux in embedded systems. Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python is required. ROS 2 experience is preferred. Strong engineering fundamentals for working on a small team: git, code review, ticket-based workflows, writing unit tests, bench testing, and clear documentation Comfortable working in Linux from the command line. You use the latest AI/ tools to maximize your output in your daily workflow, backed by strong fundamentals that let you review, debug, and own the code you ship. Hands-on experience across two or more of: 32-bit microcontrollers, embedded Linux, mobile (Android/iOS) development, NVIDIA Jetson, and cloud IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT) Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment. You have a genuine spark for electronics, robotics, security, and AI; you prototype ideas and chase down discoveries without waiting to be asked, and see work through to completion. You hold strong, experience-backed opinions, but are humble enough to seek a second opinion and enjoy building as a team. Maintaining and upgrading software on commercially distributed hardware devices at scale. Worked with devices operating in no/low connectivity areas Prior experience deploying ML models onto hardware devices is a big plus
