About the role
As an HR Operations Intern at Astera Labs, you will help the HR Operations team deliver reliable, responsive support across employee and business processes. You will learn how HR Operations works with HR leaders, HR business partners, Talent Acquisition, and cross-functional teams, while owning defined work that improves follow-through, visibility, and team efficiency. This internship is designed for a student who is organized, service-minded, detail-oriented, and excited to learn how strong HR operations enable employees and the business to move forward.
Key responsibilities
Own operational follow-through: Track assigned requests, action items, and service-level commitments from intake through completion. Support HR service delivery: Help organize and route HR questions and requests to the appropriate point of contact, escalating blockers when needed. Work with HR systems and tools: Learn and use relevant HR systems, reporting tools, documentation resources, and HR ticketing workflows. Maintain accurate information: Support recordkeeping, data checks, documentation updates, and other activities that help keep HR information reliable and accessible. Build operational visibility: Prepare or maintain reports, status updates, and simple metrics that help the team understand progress, workload, and follow-through. Improve processes: Identify recurring issues, process gaps, or unnecessary manual steps and develop practical recommendations and next steps. Partner across HR: Collaborate with HR leaders, HR business partners, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations teammates, and other cross-functional partners. Communicate clearly: Provide timely updates, clarify ownership, document decisions, and follow through on commitments. Deliver a meaningful project: Own a scoped project or workstream that produces a useful process, analysis, documentation asset, workflow improvement, or other durable team deliverable.
Basic qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college or graduate program. Interest in HR operations, human resources, people programs, business operations, or a related field. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through reliably. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions and learn new processes. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
