About the role
Every Crunchyroll experience starts with identity: creating an account, signing in on a phone, PC, TV, or console, recovering access, verifying age, and trusting that an account is safe. As Staff Product Manager for Identity & Access, you'll own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for how over 20m fans around the world get into Crunchyroll and stay in control of their accounts. You'll lead the full identity surface — sign-up, sign-in, account recovery, multi-factor authentication, device and TV login, age assurance, and consent management all the way to deleting an account if so desired — across web, mobile, living-room, and gaming platforms. The core challenge of this role is making access effortless for legitimate fans while making it hard for bad actors, all within a fast-moving global regulatory landscape. In the role of Staff Product Manager, you will report to the Director of Partner Product Management, Security. We are considering applicants for Dallas, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. This is a hybrid position, in-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What You’ll Do:
Set the identity strategy. Define and drive the multi-year roadmap for authentication, authorization, and account management, and align leadership across Product, Engineering, Security, and Legal behind it. Modernize authentication. Ship modern flows such as passkeys/FIDO2, risk-based MFA, social and SSO login, and streamlined device-code login for TVs and consoles. Improve account lifecycle. Make it easier for users to create, access, recover, and manage accounts and profiles across devices, including household and profile management. Fight fraud and abuse. Partner with Security and Trust & Safety to detect and prevent account takeovers, credential stuffing, bot sign-ups, and payment abuse — without adding friction for good users. Lead age assurance and youth safety. Own the product approach to age verification, parental controls, and compliance with youth-protection laws (e.g., COPPA, UK Online Safety Act, US state age-assurance laws). Protect privacy. Ensure compliance with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, and others) and give users clear control over their data and consent. Ground decisions in research and data. Run user research and analyze funnel data to find pain points in access flows, and use those insights to reduce access-related churn. Define and own the metrics. Establish success metrics for login success, recovery completion, MFA adoption, fraud rates, and support contact volume, and report on them regularly. Collaborate cross-functionally. Work daily with Engineering, Design, Security & Trust, Legal, Data, and Customer Experience to launch solutions that build user trust and platform integrity.
