We’re looking for a Senior Director of Engineering, Technical Platform to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?
What You'll Do
This role is on our engineering leadership team, reporting directly to our Chief Technology Officer. In this role, you will consolidate and lead our global Developer Platform and AI infrastructure capabilities — serving ~300 software and data engineers across four core engineering pillars. Treat the Platform as a Product: Lead and evolve our core developer platform with a product mindset. Lead teams that build and support opinionated "paved paths" and self-service capabilities that reduce cognitive load, remove engineering friction, and optimize developer velocity across multiple business units. Co-Drive Platform Strategy: Partner closely with Product Management partners to define end-to-end platform vision, roadmapping, and metrics. Ensure platform investments deliver high-signal business value and delightful experience across technical and non-technical employees. Guide High-Availability Infrastructure: Provide technical depth and strategic guidance for teams managing resilient infrastructure across enterprise data processing, storage, and mission-critical SaaS integrations with strict SLA/SLO requirements. Champion Internal Customers & IT Operations: Deliver exceptional service and operational excellence to all internal stakeholders. Empower developers with seamless platform tooling while providing non-technical employees with reliable corporate IT infrastructure, support, and services. Integrate & Scale AI Capabilities: Evaluate locally incubated AI developer tooling across business units and execute central platform investments to systematically move the engineering organization up the agentic AI maturity curve. Establish AI Cost & Security Governance: Partner closely with engineering, security, and finance leaders to define pragmatic cost controls, risk guardrails, and compliance governance for production AI workloads and developer tools. Enable Enterprise-Wide AI Adoption: Collaborate with leaders across technical and non-technical functions to establish the infrastructure, tooling, and user experiences that enable cross-functional teams to safely leverage AI. Build & Manage High Performing Teams: Develop and lead a robust engineering leadership tier across platform and IT teams by fostering a culture of ownership and excellence, cultivating technical leadership, driving organizational maturity and mobility, and aligning talent strategies with mission-critical outcomes. At the end of your first year, success would mean: Consolidating global developer platform tooling into seamless paved paths, establishing transparent AI governance and cost controls, and measurable improvement in developer velocity and AI maturity across all four pillars of the business.
