Perform incoming, first-article, in-process, and final inspections of optical, mechanical, vacuum, and electronic hardware against approved engineering drawings, specifications, and purchasing requirements. Inspect critical dimensions, optical surface condition, assembly workmanship, and supplier documentation using established acceptance criteria and precision measurement equipment. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to implement and refine in-process inspection points for optical cleaning, bonding, precision assembly, and rework. Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and support the development and improvement of inspection methods. Maintain calibration and gauge records, verify equipment calibration status, and identify measurement limitations or concerns. Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material; coordinate with Engineering on technical disposition and verify approved rework or corrective actions before release. Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to investigate supplier defects, address recurring production issues, and verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions. Verify inspection completion, configuration identity, and resolution of quality issues at release gates. Maintain traceable quality records and communicate defects and release risks.
Experience & Education
BS in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent relevant quality control and precision-inspection experience. 5+ years in manufacturing quality, quality engineering, or inspection of precision optical, mechanical, or electronic hardware.

Qualifications
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), optical workmanship requirements, and supplier conformance documentation. Hands-on experience with dimensional metrology, inspection microscopes, precision gauges, and CMMs for inspecting precision parts and fixtures. Working knowledge of optical cleanliness, bonded-assembly workmanship, vacuum sealing surfaces, and electronic component handling. Experience with calibration practices, nonconformance control, root-cause investigations, and verification of corrective actions. Strong attention to detail, accurate inspection documentation, and sound judgment in identifying nonconformances and escalating incomplete conformance evidence before hardware release. Experience inspecting hardware used in quantum computing, photonics, semiconductor equipment, aerospace, or scientific instrumentation preferred.
